Day 9: Exploring Brisbane

The first full day in Brisbane started out with a boat tour along the winding Brisbane River. We had an entertaining captain who filled our tour with plenty of witty commentary, as well as making our group feel at home by playing Sweet Home Alabama when he found out where we were in school. The rest of the boat was confused why so many people on the boat were singing along.

I befriended a lady and her son from a rural town around 5 hours west of Brisbane. She was able to provide us with a lot of insight as to what it is like for college age kids around her, as her son was going to be headed to "Uni" as they refer to it, in the next few years. We had conversations about similarities and differences between American universities versus those in Australia. Generally they are not as big here, and the students often take a "gap year"  (or two or three) before they enroll, so usually the ages are higher.

Downtown Brisbane
After our boat tour, we ended up downtown in Brisbane where we decided to do some more exploring. We ended up in a small sushi restaurant which might have been our most filling but least expensive meal yet. They served massive single rolls of pretty much every type of sushi that I like for only 2.25 a roll. I'm pretty sure we will be seeing this place again.
